A gunman opened fire at an adult education center in the Swedish city of Örebro on Tuesday, killing at least 10 people in what the country’s prime minister called the “worst mass shooting in Swedish history.

Witnesses who survived Sweden’s worst mass shooting have described horror and panic that gripped an adult education center west of Stockholm as the gunman killed at least 10 people.

One day after the killings at an adult educational center, some gathered to lay flowers and come to grips with the violence.

MALMÖ, Sweden (OSV News) — Pope Francis said he was “deeply saddened” by the tragic shooting in a Swedish school, sending “assurance of his spiritual closeness to all affected by this traumatic incident,” in which 10 students of an adult education center lost their lives.

About 10 people including the gunman have been killed at an adult education center in what Sweden’s prime minister called the country’s “worst mass shooting.”

The king and queen visited the scene of the tragic event that occurred on Tuesday and Swedish flags were flown at half-mast to honor the victims.
