Xbox cofounder J Allard joined Amazon last month as a vice president on the company’s devices and services team. In an email to The Verge, Allard confirmed his new role but says it’s “too early to have anything to say” about what he’ll be working on at Amazon beyond “new ideas.

Xbox co-founder J Allard has joined Amazon as a vice president on its devices and services team. It’s the part of Amazon’s business that’s responsible for the Alexa voice assistant and Echo devices, Ring, Kindle, Fire TV, and its Luna clud gaming service, among other products and initiatives.

J Allard, one of the chief designers of the original Xbox, has joined Amazon, but it's too soon to say if he'll be working on anything related to video games.

Allard is best known in gaming circles for his 20 years at Microsoft, where he co-founded Xbox and helped launch the original console and the Xbox 360, as well as Xbox Live and Xbox Live Arcade.
