Gavin & Stacey star Melanie Walters has responded to the 2024 Christmas special 's biggest reveal. The finale of the beloved BBC sitcom revealed that Smithy stayed with Sonia after the 2019 special, but more shocking than that (for viewers and the characters) was finding out that Gwen had a new boyfriend: Dave Coaches!

However, during the moving monologue, fans noticed a major continuity error. In the scene, Mick stands up with a full pint in his hand while addressing their group. But, in the middle of the speech, the drink suddenly appears to be half-full before returning back to full again.

Fans of Gavin and Stacey are suspended in a state of mourning following the utterly perfect Christmas finale, which saw Smithy (James Corden) and Nessa (Ruth Jones) exchange vows at long last. The series, written and created by Corden and Jones, also stars Matthew Horne as Gavin, and Joanna Page as Stacey.
