Jackie Johnson has been charged with violating her oath of office, a felony, and a misdemeanor count of hindering police as they investigated Arbery’s killing.

The one-time Georgia prosecutor accused of using her office to impede the investigation into Ahmaud Arbery’s killers is set to stand trial more than four years after the Black 26-year-old’s death fueled nationwide protests over racial injustice.

Senior Judge John R. Turner planned to seat a jury Tuesday morning at the Glynn County courthouse in the port city of Brunswick. Jury selection began a week ago but was delayed by a rare winter storm that left the coastal community coated in snow and ice.

Former Georgia district attorney Jackie Johnson went back into the Glynn County courthouse for the start of the jury selection in her trial on Tuesday, almost four years after initially being charged with mishandling the case of Ahmaud Arbery’s murder.

Marcus Arbery said the jury selection would be the next step to Johnson being held accountable for her actions.
