Steve Spurrier went 20-3 all-time in his career in the Southeastern Conference against Kentucky. Now, one of his former programs in South Carolina is coming off another major win over them last weekend.

LEXINGTON, Ky. — South Carolina football dominated Kentucky on its own field, defeating the Wildcats (1-1) 31-6 in the SEC opener. The Gamecocks (2-0) sent Kentucky fans heading toward the exits early in the fourth quarter, a reversal from last week, when Old Dominion fans were on the edge of their seat with the game so close.

The last hope of Kentucky’s offense finding some rhythm ended in the third quarter when a 25-yard completion was negated by an illegal shift penalty. That started a stretch of three consecutive positive gains negated by UK penalties, backing Kentucky up into the shadow of its own end zone.

LSU went on the road in week three and squeaked out a win in South Carolina. It wasn't a smooth ride, but playing on the road in this conference is tough. Look no further than No. 1 Georgia struggled at Kentucky for more evidence of that.
