Eduardo Medina-Berumen was charged with two counts of murder with special circumstances, two counts of attempted murder and possession of an assault pistol in connection with the bursts of gunfire that killed Baldwin Park Police Officer Samuel Riveros and Darius Wong. If convicted as charged, he faces life without the possibility of parole.

A man has been formally charged in connection with last weekend’s shooting in Baldwin Park that killed Officer Samuel Riveros and another man and wounded a second officer. Eduardo Roberto Medina-Berumen,

Michael Garrett, 23, pleaded guilty​ to one count of second-degree intentional murder on April 28. An autopsy showed that the victim, Dijon Legore-Banks, had been shot eight times.

It's extremely tragic to have to deal with this,' said Baldwin Park Police Chief Robert A. López as he fought back tears after the death of Officer Sam Riveros.
