President Donald Trump on Thursday issued an executive order against WilmerHale, the fifth major law firm attacked by the White House in the last month.
Brenna Frey resigned from Skadden after the firm inked a deal with the Trump administration. It marks another public resignation from the firm. Rachel Cohen did the same. The firm said it would provide $100M in pro bono work to causes supported by the administration.
Global law firm WilmerHale has been named the #3 law firm in the United States on The American Lawyer’s 2025 A-List, an influential annual ranking of the country’s most prestigious and well-rounded law firms.
The Friday rulings block the punishments that Trump levied in executive orders targeting Jenner & Block and WilmerHale, according to The New York Times. The orders had sought to bar the firms’ lawyers from federal buildings, meetings, and jobs.
WilmerHale and Jenner & Block have filed lawsuits against the Trump administration, challenging executive orders that they claim target their ability to represent clients opposed to Trump's policies.
