Not long ago it appeared as if boxing would be removed from the Olympic program, perhaps forever. Years of scandals, allegations of match fixing and battles between Olympic leaders and boxing’s former governing body had pushed one of the Olympics’ oldest sports off the schedule for the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Games.

The tournaments run by World Boxing, the newly recognized governing body attempting to salvage the sport’s presence at the Olympics.

After Paris 2024, there was a strong possibility that boxing would not be included in the list of sports for Los Angeles 2028. Boxing will remain an Olympic sport, at least for the next cycle in Los Angeles 2028.
