Derrick Ward Sr., a reporter at NBC4 Washington, died Tuesday from complications after a recent cardiac arrest, his family confirmed.

Derrick Ward, a member of the News4 family, died Tuesday following complications from recent cardiac arrest. He was 62. A native of the District of Columbia, Ward grew up in Marshall Heights and the H Street Corridor in Northeast.

Derrick Ward, a renowned reporter known for covering local news and significant events throughout Washington, D.C., has died at age 62.

The D.C. native began as a radio journalist at a number of Washington, D.C. stations before moving to television.
