When BMW announced late in 2017 that the M140i will have a $5,000 price cut for the LCI-2 release, that was the deal clincher for me to finally sign the dotted line for my first ever BMW.

The BMW M140i might be no more, but it’s still worth talking about because it represents the last gasp of the rear-wheel-drive 1 Series hatch – and is one of the best sleeper cars BMW ever made.

That said, the current BMW M140i, especially in RWD-guise, is probably one of the closest models to a “pure BMW” this side of the M2 and M240i.
