July 12 (Reuters) - A preliminary report into the Air India crash that killed 260 people last month showed three seconds after taking off, the plane’s engines fuel cutoff switches almost simultaneously flipped from run to cutoff, starving the engines of fuel.

A preliminary report on the Air India Boeing 787 crash in Ahmedabad reveals both engines lost power after a sudden fuel cutoff, leaving pilots unable to regain thrust before the disaster. The investigation continues as experts probe the cause.

According to the AAIB’s preliminary findings, the aircraft experienced a sudden loss of engine thrust just after takeoff from Ahmedabad. Both engines were starved of fuel when the engine fuel cutoff switches flipped nearly simultaneously.
