It’s official. The all-electric pickup is dead, but Ford is promising the F-150 Lightning EREV will be “every bit
The Ford F-150 Lightning’s future has been under a cloud since last month. Production stops, cooling EV demand in the US, and big losses in Ford’s EV division all pointed to trouble. Now it’s official: Ford will end production of the current all-electric Lightning this year.
Ford’s announcements today can’t be said to have come out of the blue. Rumors of the F-150’s demise have been circulating for more than a month, and last week SK On ended its joint venture with Ford that was building a pair of EV battery plants in Kentucky and Tennessee.
Ford has pulled the plug on its all-electric pickup truck and will replace it with an extended-range EV that takes gas.
The charges are related to a restructuring of its business priorities and a pullback in its all-electric vehicle investments, Ford announced Monday.
