A rare object from the world’s most famous shipwreck sold for nearly double its estimated price at auction.

A life jacket worn by Titanic survivor Laura Mabel Francatelli sold for roughly $906,000 at auction, far exceeding its pre-sale estimate of $475,000.

The item is believed to be one of only a handful of Titanic life jackets still in existence, the auction house said.

It is the only life jacket from the Titanic to be sold at auction in 114 years.
