NASA says it has penciled in Blue Origin's Blue Moon cargo lander to deliver a scientific payload to the moon as early as this summer.

The Houston-based company put its Athena spacecraft on the moon just after 12:30 p.m. ET. The landing site is closer to the lunar south pole than any human or vehicle has traveled before.

Intuitive Machines announced the news Friday, less than 24 hours after the lander missed its mark by more than 800 feet.
