KENT COUNTY, MI – A Michigan woman was forced to play a different lottery game than usual, and it ended up winning her $1 million. The Kent County resident, who chose to remain anonymous, won the big prize playing the Wild Cherry instant game.

A New York City lottery player has claimed $1 million in a Mega Millions second prize. David Bewig of New City, New York, has claimed a $1 million prize for matching the first five Mega Millions numbers drawn on Aug. 25, 2023, according to New York Lottery officials.

"I gave the ticket back to the clerk and had her check it. She helped me scratch the rest of it off, and when she saw I had hit $1 million, she screamed, 'She just won $1 million!'" The player elected to receive her prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $693,

“I just closed my eyes and started thanking God,” the winner said, per the release. She told lottery officials the win is “a tremendous blessing.” “I can now be completely debt-free and have a comfortable retirement,” she told lottery officials.

A woman gave her brother some money to buy a lottery ticket for her, and it turned out to be a winner. A LOTERIA™ GRANDE Scratcher that cost $10 ended up with a $1 million prize. But the woman didn't know she was a winner until her brother called her last year.

A woman in Kent County is planning on buying a home after winning the lottery. The woman, who chose to remain anonymous, one $1 million from a scratch-off ticket, the Michigan Lottery said in a release.
