The Flyers showed some spunk on Thursday. Taking on the Stanley Cup playoff-bound Tampa Bay Lightning during Pearl Jam night at the Wells Fargo Center, the game had an even flow and the Flyers battled back more than once to tie things up.

In recent years, one of the best teams in the NHL has been the Tampa Bay Lightning. They have been dominant throughout the regular season and, more importantly, in the playoffs. The Lightning won back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2020 and 2021 and then made it back to the Cup final in 2022, losing to the Colorado Avalanche in six games.

Victor Hedman opened the scoring early in the game before Boston tied the score late in the period. Tampa Bay then scored three goals in the second period while outshooting Boston 20 to zero. The Bruins scored 23 seconds into the third period, but the final result was capped with a pair of empty-net goals from the Lightning.

The Lightning will reunite with the Boston Bruins on Saturday night, this time at TD Garden in Boston. The two teams faced off at Amalie Arena just one week ago when the Bruins shutout the Lightning 4-0 in an uncharacteristic home loss.
