One person died Tuesday morning after being struck by a train near the Wheaton Metro station, according to fire and rescue officials.

A passenger was fatally struck by a Red Line train at the Wheaton Metro station at 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday. Metro Transit Police and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service responded to the scene.
