Grant Hardin, an escaped Arkansas inmate known as the “Devil in the Ozarks,” has been taken into custody, the Izard County Sheriff’s Office said Friday. Hardin is a convicted murderer and rapist. He was reported missing from prison on May 25.

Grant Hardin had gained notoriety as the subject of the 2023 documentary “Devil in the Ozarks’’ about his 1997 rape of a school teacher and 2017 murder of a water department worker.

A new federal court filing shows that investigators believe the convicted murderer and rapist known as the “Devil in the Ozarks” has likely fled Arkansas after escaping prison last month
