As Delhi University is set to name one of its upcoming colleges after Veer Savarkar, a political row has erupted over it with Congress's student wing demanding that the college be named after late former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh instead.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of the University of Delhi's upcoming college on Friday, named after Veer Savarkar. The institution in Najafgarh was approved by the university's executive council in 2021.

The NSUI has written to PM Modi, urging him to name Delhi University's new college after former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh rather than Veer Savarkar.
