More states, territories and Washington, D.C., have signed on to a settlement with drugmaker Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family over the opioid crisis, officials said.

All 50 states, D.C., and four U.S. territories signed off on the multi-billion dollar settlement proposal with OxyContin maker Purdue Pharma in litigation over Purdue's alleged role in America's opioid addiction crisis.

The multi-billion-dollar payment is meant to resolve claims that the drugmaker's pain medication, OxyContin, caused an opioid crisis.
