The Texas Longhorns will need freshman guard Tre Johnson to step up big once again if they want to secure an at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament.

Texas (19-14) came in as the SEC’s No. 13 seed with the Longhorns needing victories to play their way into the NCAA Tournament. They will face No. 4 seed and eighth-ranked Tennessee on Friday.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tramon Mark and Tre Johnson scored 19 points each and 13th-seeded Texas defeated No. 12-seed Vanderbilt 79-72 in the first round of the SEC Tournament on Wednesday. Texas, in its first SEC Tournament, will play No. 5 seed Texas A&M in the second round on Thursday.
