If you must remove it to recover the usable space, I would suggest grabbing an image of the recovery partition and storing it. Then, should you need it, you can get it back again.

This lets me see the partition, but won't let me delete it. I was able to change the ID to show that it wasn't a recovery partition, but I still couldn't delete it, even after multiple reboots. WinPE.
