Another reported candidate, Browns tight ends coach/pass game specialist Tommy Rees, looks to be off the board. Vrabel worked with Rees last year, when he served in a hybrid coach/consultant role for the Browns.

According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the New England Patriots are set to hire Josh McDaniels as their next offensive coordinator. The 48-year-old— who interviewed with the franchise on Tuesday in Foxborough —has widely been considered the favorite since New England announced Mike Vrabel as their head coach last Sunday.

Two weeks after the New England Patriots hired Mike Vrabel to be their 16th head coach in franchise history, their coaching staff appears to be close to full. On Monday, MassLive's Mark Daniels reported that Thomas Brown and Jason Houghtaling are joining Vrabel's staff for the 2025 season.

The Patriots currently have Josh McDaniels as offensive coordinator and Terrell Williams as defensive coordinator. The offensive staff also includes Ashton Grant, who has experience with quarterbacks, and Tony Dews, a running backs coach. The defensive staff includes Zak Kurh, Clint McMillan and Kevin Richardson.

Mike Vrabel continues to add veteran coaches to his Patriots staff, reportedly hiring Doug Marrone to fill an unspecified role in New England.
