ODESSA, Texas — On Monday, the Black Cultural Council of Odessa honored Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy. They kicked off the day with their "King Breakfast" with Alpha Phi Alpha, the fraternity Dr. King was involved with. The community gathered to celebrate the life of the man who fought for justice.

The Anthony, Canutillo, Clint, El Paso, Gadsden, Fabens, Ysleta and Socorro independent school districts will be closed for the holiday, as well as Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso and the University of Texas at El Paso.
