There were 2,036 registered sex offenders living in the Merseyside police force area at the end of March 2024. Merseyside has 158 registered sex offenders for every 100,000 people.

However, police figures show that stalking is far more likely to be reported in some parts of Merseyside than others. Over the last three years, there have been 1,321 stalking reports in St. Helens .
