An all-too-quick encounter with gorgeous spring weather is likely to lift areas of the Bay Area into record-breaking heat Monday and Tuesday before giving way to a bit more precipitation mid-week and the chances for a heavy storm come the weekend.

California’s first significant warm spell of 2025 will send the mercury soaring this week. Temperatures are predicted to climb to the 80s in San Francisco, Oakland, Sacramento and Los Angeles, the 90s in the deserts and near 100 in Death Valley.

A high-pressure system is bringing "unseasonably warm temperatures" that will be in the 80s and 90s in some parts of Southern California, the National Weather Service said.
