In recent years, one of the best teams in the NHL has been the Tampa Bay Lightning. They have been dominant throughout the regular season and, more importantly, in the playoffs. The Lightning won back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2020 and 2021 and then made it back to the Cup final in 2022, losing to the Colorado Avalanche in six games.

The Flyers showed some spunk on Thursday. Taking on the Stanley Cup playoff-bound Tampa Bay Lightning during Pearl Jam night at the Wells Fargo Center, the game had an even flow and the Flyers battled back more than once to tie things up.

Boston was outshot, 20-0, in the second period and fell behind, 4-1, in falling to 30-30-8 on the season. The Bruins showed some signs of life in the third period, but Tampa Bay (38-23-5) were content to dump and chase and keep Boston’s skaters outside the circles after Marat Khusnutdinov scored 23 seconds into the third.
