Justice voted for the megabill last week, despite his concerns over some of its Medicaid provisions — and after warning Republicans “cannot cut into the bone.” Steep cuts, he said, would cost the GOP voters and lead the party to “awaken to [being in the] minority.”

But the Trump administration’s own projection is that the giant cuts in Medicaid will result in nobody losing coverage. If true, this would be astonishing, the fiscal equivalent of the immaculate conception.

Covered California, the state's Affordable Care Act health insurance marketplace, estimates that up to 660,000 of the 2 million in the program will be stripped of coverage or drop out.
