PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WKBN) – The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Thursday that the team is signing quarterback Logan Woodside to its training camp roster. The team is in need of another quarterback after rookie Will Howard suffered a fracture in the pinky finger of his throwing hand earlier this week.

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed veteran offensive lineman Andrus Peat and journeyman quarterback Logan Woodside to one-year deals on Thursday.

The former league MVP will sit in Friday’s preseason opener against the Jaguars in Jacksonville, head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed Thursday, along with several Steelers starters, including wide receiver DK Metcalf, cornerback Jalen Ramsey, linebacker T.J. Watt and defensive lineman Cam Heyward.

Aaron Rodgers won't make his Steelers debut in Pittsburgh just yet. Coach Mike Tomlin says Rodgers and other top starters will sit out the preseason opener against Jacksonville.
