An Allentown police officer is charged with assault for pistol-whipping a man during an arrest last month, according to authorities. Abviud Carvajal, 30, of South Whitehall Township faces charges of aggravated assault and simple assault for allegedly hitting the man with the muzzle of his handgun following a police chase July 23.
