Annamalai said that the alleged perpetrator has links to the DMK, which the party denied. During the press conference, he showed pictures of the accused with DMK leaders, saying the accused was emboldened due to his connection with those in power.

The former Karnataka-cadre IPS officer also said he would undertake a fast for 48 days from December 27 till the second week of February following which he will visit all six abodes of Lord Murugan across the state and offer prayers to help him 'oust the DMK from power.
