NBC's Mike Tirico reported that the U.S. Open could withstand a two-hour weather delay and still finish the final round on Sunday. The delay ended up lasting less than two hours indicating the final round could be completed as scheduled.

Championship Sunday was suspended, at least temporarily, as rain began to pour down at Oakmont Country Club for the 2025 U.S. Open.

The final round of the 125th U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club has been suspended due to heavy rains that moved through the area Sunday afternoon. Play was suspended just after 4 p.m. Sunday as torrential downpours made the course unplayable.

The winner of the 2025 U.S. Open will take home a hefty paycheck of $4.3 million, the same amount as last year's winner Bryson DeChambeau.

Sam Burns is the 54-hole leader and the betting favorite entering the final round of the 125th U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club. Burns has a one-shot advantage over Adam Scott and J.J. Spaun. Viktor Hovland is solo fourth,

The Masters champion has had five birdies and three bogeys and looks poised to card his first under-par round at Oakmont at the sixth attempt (stretching back to the 2016 tournament). He's currently tied for 35th. Each of this quartet leads the field in at least one metric through three rounds.

American Sam Burns, chasing his first major title, led Australian Adam Scott by one stroke when dangerous weather halted Sunday's final round of the US Open after the leaders had played seven holes.Scott made a three-putt bogey at the par-three sixth and both parred the seventh before play was halted with them on the tee at the par-three eighth.
