The University of Kentucky released a statement following the death of Dr. Marites Buenefe. We are deeply saddened and heartbroken over the tragic passing of Dr. Marites “Tess” Buenafe. Dr. Buenafe was a beloved physician by both her co-workers and her patients at University Health Service (UHS) at the University of Kentucky where she had worked for nearly 10 years.

The body of 62-year-old Marites Buenafe, a missing cruise passenger, has been found after she vanished while on a solo hike in Alaska, authorities have said.

Marites Buenafe, of Kentucky, was reported missing Tuesday afternoon when she did not return to the cruise ship Norwegian Bliss, according to the Alaska State Troopers.
