Serbia’s construction minister resigned after 14 people were crushed to death last week by a falling canopy at a railway station that was rebuilt by European and Chinese firms two years ago.

On Friday, November 1st, a horrific tragedy occurred in Serbia when part of the railway station roof collapsed, resulting in the deaths of fourteen people. Among the victims were two young girls, 9-year-old Valentina and 6-year-old Sara.

Angry protesters have left red handprints in front of government buildings in the Serbian capital to demand the arrest of officials, two days after a concrete canopy collapsed at a railway station, killing 14 people and injuring three.
