After a weekend of rain and chillier temperatures, North Texas is expected to warm up this week with highs in the 80s. A strong storm Saturday brought destruction to parts of Ellis County, including knocking the roof off of a hotel and killing one man.

Strong winds of up to 90 mph ripped the roof off a Days Inn along Interstate 45, damaged homes throughout Ellis County and toppled at least seven semitractor-trailer trucks on Interstate 35.

Severe storms are likely for most of North Texas, including the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, through 7 a.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. The main threat of Saturday morning storms is large hail.
