Tropical Storm Erin strengthening quickly as it continues its westward path across the Atlantic, according to the latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center.

Hurricane Erin is currently at Category 4 hurricane with sustained wind speeds of 145 mph and gusting to even higher levels.

Erin is expected to pass north of the Leeward Islands, the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico over the weekend, bringing up to 6in (15cm) of rain, with the potential for flash flooding and mudslides.
