Russia does not care about U.S. President Donald Trump's "theatrical ultimatum" about slapping sanctions on buyers of Russian exports unless Moscow agrees to a peace deal in Ukraine, a senior security official said on Tuesday.

Trump also revealed that Putin had recently offered to assist in mediating between Israel and Iran during their brief June conflict — an offer he declined. “I said, ‘No, no, you help me get a settlement with you, with Russia,’” Trump recounted. “And I think we're going to be doing that too.”

In a major shift toward Ukraine, Trump announces a plan to send weapons, including Patriot systems, and threatens 100 percent tariffs if Russia doesn’t reach a deal soon.
