The City of Starkville with a population of 27,000 is a growing city in north-central Mississippi. Starkville is the county seat of Oktibbeha County and home to the largest university in the state, Mississippi State University, with a student population of over 20,000.

As the home of Mississippi State University, Starkville is always brimming with activities and excitement, from sporting events, concerts and festivals to vibrant Main Street dining and shopping attractions to the quaint and inviting Cotton District near campus.

The airport was opened in 1934 as the Starkville Municipal Airport. During World War II the airport was taken over abruptly by the government to be used as a glider training base (Starkville AF Auxiliary Field).

All court employees are committed to providing the citizens of Starkville and Oktibbeha County with effective, efficient, and courteous service. Municipal court holds four court sessions per week and hears cases that originate inside the city limits of Starkville, Mississippi.

The City of Starkville currently has an agreement with Oktibbeha County to collect all City taxes. Tax sale for unpaid taxes is held on the 4th Monday of August each year.
