Oct 25, 2024 · It's only a half hack, because even after tweaking a rating, say, from 4 stars to 4.5 while in Songs, the same track will continue to default to a full star neighbour when I view it elsewhere. Still, it's occasionally helpful when I'm reviewing my library in "Songs" mode.

I curated all my playlists and Smart playlists in order of star-ratings painstakingly given to favorite songs. The best star rated songs rose to the top, Five star, then Four star, then Three star, and so forth. Songs played in that order.

Jun 12, 2021 · Re-enable half star ratings in Music Amongst the other dreadful things replacing iTunes with Music has done (messing up playlists & view options big time) is Music has removed half-star ratings & the old commands to add that option again no longer work.

Jan 13, 2021 · I've just tried enabling half-stars in Music in Catalina and from what I can see it allows half stars for both manual track and album ratings. A manual album rating with half stars will create half star track auto-ratings for unrated tracks, but a collection of manual track ratings only ever gives whole star album auto-ratings for unrated albums.

I first saw these characters on the Google Docs "insert special characters" menu, which is why I assumed they were a standard unicode symbol that should show up. I've included a photo of the half star I'm after as well as the google docs menu which is missing a ton of characters.
