Bumble bee buzz pollination!! Real time then slow motion 😱🐝 sound on! 🎶 Buzz pollinators grab onto the flower and move their flight muscles rapidly while disengaging their wings, causing the flower and anthers to vibrate, dislodging pollen. Not all bees can buzz pollinate and only certain types of plants need this type of pollination. Such as tomato plants 🌱 #bumblebee #buzzpollination #bee #pollination #pollinator #buzz #cool #beefact #shotoniphone #macrobees #beesofinstagram #natureisamazi

Bumblebees are capable of buzz-pollination — a special technique that releases pollen for over 20,000 species of plant around the world 🌍 This includes garden favourites, wildflowers and crops like apples, strawberries, tomatoes, peppers, blueberries, courgettes, kiwis, aubergines — the list goes on (and on) 🍓🌺 This makes bumblebees one of the most important pollinators, both ecologically and economically, as they play a massive part in our food security. Without their vital #FreeBee service,

Some plants need a bee’s BUZZ to pollinate 🤩🌼🐝!! Buzz pollination is when bees grab onto a flower and vibrate their flight muscles to shake it! The pollen, which may be extra stuck compared to other flowers, is released from the anthers (male part of the flower) with the bee’s buzz. Only around 10% of plants in the world require buzz pollination, which include the shooting stars, tomatoes, some rhododendrons, some blueberries, some cranberries, and only a handful more! Only some bees are able

🐝 Check out this bumblebee buzz pollinating a raspberry flower — first at full speed, then in slow motion (1/10 speed). Sound on! 🎶 Buzz pollination is a special technique used by bumblebees (not honeybees!) to shake pollen loose by vibrating their flight muscles. It’s crucial for certain plants like tomatoes — and while raspberries can self-pollinate, bee visits lead to much better yields. Pollinators like these play a vital role in supporting both wildflowers and many of the foods we eat. 🌸

One of the most common questions that I am asked is "What plants do the pollinators prefer?" Last week it was the red and purple giant porterweed. Pentas and porterweed are the top 2 that I see the most butterflies on. We do see them on all of our plants, but I would have to say those 2 are at the top of the list. We are open on Friday and Saturday from 9-2 if you are looking to attract more butterflies, hummingbirds and bees to your yard, stop by and see us! We are located at 23210 N. Buckhill
