One job every allotment holder should be doing over the winter (if you don’t already have one), is to make a compost bay. The easiest and cheapest way to do this is to use pallets. I’ve just secured mine together with some screws but cable ties will work fine. Then I’ve lined the bottom level with groundsheet to stop the smaller bits from falling through the gaps. I put down some cardboard to stop weeds from growing in here and that’s it! Now I have a place to throw all my old crops and weeds in
