This was Oreo as a baby doing her first attempt at the "sign read" trick! Now of course she couldn't actually read, but this trick basically uses the cue card turning as a signal for the rat to progress to the next part of this trick. Only Oreo got a bit too enthusiastic about the spinning part and so got stuck for a second just spinning lol - still, she did pretty good considering she was just a tiny baby rat! . Sadly I can't really do this sort of training anymoe because my neighbors now have a dog that tends to run over sporadically (plus we have a lot of roaming cats and birds of prey, and I did have one incident with Oreo where a bird swooped right by us and startled her badly, which was when I stopped doing this training with her).
