With a propeller in the back, it cruised lakes and rivers at about seven knots. About 4,000 were built, and President Lyndon B. Johnson famously pranked guests by driving one into a lake at his ranch, pretending the brakes had failed. While it was slow and leaky, it fascinated buyers who wanted James Bond-style versatility.
